(Project description)
For this project, I collaborated with musician Parchment on his first record, Entropy. The primary goal was to create a visual identity that represented the turbulent and emotional landscape of our lives, capturing the pressure of growing up and what feels like the weight of the world on our shoulders. The project’s visual language was based on my personal interpretation of the music, using collaged letters and images cut from magazines around my apartment. The artwork included not only a cohesive album identity but also a unique visual for each individual song, all of which came together as an audiovisual experience for the album's release.

(Design challenge)
The main challenge was to create a cohesive theme around the album art as well as a unified identity across all the different pieces while maintaining the individuality of each song. The approach was highly tactile and hands on, requiring me to manually collage individual letters and images onto cardstock. This process came with a unique technical challenge of digitizing each piece and then meticulously tweaking the individual components to achieve the exact look and feel I had envisioned.

(The process)
The collaboration with Parchment began when he discovered a piece from my past work and instantly connected with it. This led to a discussion about the album title, and the concept of entropy, or chaos theory, became the project's conceptual driving force. The artistic choice of using scattered letters, stripped of all order, was a direct visual representation of this chaos. From there, I immersed myself in his music, creating individual collage pieces for each song that visually responded to its mood and sound. The final identity also included typographic works, such as a title card and a tracklist page, all built upon this shared visual foundation, ultimately creating an album identity that felt authentic and deeply personal to my friend.

(Key takeaways)
(Key takeaways)
This project was a pivotal moment in my artistic development. It was incredibly rewarding to collaborate with Parchment and to see my artwork become such a core part of his creative milestone. This experience was the first time I fully realized my skill for creating identities that can encapsulate a specific feeling or emotion, solidifying my passion for translating abstract concepts into a tangible visual language.
